State of the magazine industry

 

 

 

 

Favourite magazine

 

 

This is the best pop music magazine that I have chosen to be the beat in terms of the front cover, contents and DPS. That is because:

· Front cover- The front cover looks interesting and attractive. The colours that are used and bright and cheerful and this is how I want my own magazine to be. As soon as you see it you already have an idea of the target audience. It also feels friendly and looks interesting to read due to the cover-lines. I like the smaller pictures that were used. They were cropped and laid out in a good way.

· Contents page- The contents page relates to the front page even though different colours were used. This represents poo music in a good way. Some of the images used on the front cover were used on the contents page. There are also advertising a sale about recycling for example, this is good as it teaches the children. The colours go well together and it looks pleasant.

· DPS (Double-page spread) - They used some of the same colours which relates to the front cover and I like the layout of the context. Throughout the magazine they have laid it out in order to target the same audience. The main image looks neatly cropped and nicely placed. There is also an advertisement about `Little mix` albums and that’s good because it will get the reader to buy it. The interview looks interesting to read and the pull quote is also fantastic as it is describing them as normal girls even though they are pop starts.

Prelim

While doing the prelim we used different technologies and we also learnt many different things.

Technologies used for tasks:

·         Camera

·         SERIF

·         PC

What I have learnt:

·         How to get a picture of the camera to the software serif

·         How to use serif:

-      Crop a picture

-      Edit the picture- so that it looks like a magazine

-      How to lay out a magazine front cover and contents [age

·         What should be in front of a magazine

·         How to make everything work out together

 

 

 

Technologies used for swede

Technologies used and technical skills developed during swede production

While constructing and marketing our swede we as a group used different technologies:

·        We used Epson scanner- to scan the drawing of our storyboard.

·        Serif movie+- to crop and put our animatronic together.

·        We then used `Garage band` software to record our voices for the animatronic.

·        Then we used a PC to put everything together.

·        We then starting filming using a DLSR camera

-      By using the camera we learnt how to film and about the way the camera should be in terms of angles, movement and shots

·        Used `Final cut pro` on the Mac`s to edit our swede-While editing we learnt how to:

-       Use the Mac`s

-       Cut the clips to the appropriate lengths

-       Reduce the unnecessary sounds  

-      Put music over the scenes that needed it

-      One main thing was that we learnt more about transitions.

·        Blogger was used to publish all of our work.

·        In terms of marketing we used Photoshop to create our poster.

·        We used Facebook (to put our poster and swede) and Youtube ( to put our swede) to advertise our production.
